Oooohhh yeah. One of the big things about living in Illinois is that it snows. A lot. A WHOLE LOT.
The school district has had to declare a snow day on more than one occasion. And nothing is better than getting up in the morning, looking out the window and seeing the glittering powder covering EVERYTHING, then turning on the news to find out that the school has been closed!
You punch the air in happiness, take one last look outside and grin, and snuggle back into the warmth of your bed, still smiling in pure joy.
Then when you get to wake up again, thinking that was all just a dream, you look out the window casually. Suddenly, all those feelings of elation come flooding back through you when you see even MORE snow! School really was cancelled! You punch the air again, maybe jump and shout "WAAAAAHHHHOOOOOOO!!!" or "HOOORAAAAAAHHH!" or possibly a simple "YEEEESSSSSSSS!!" and tug on a sweatshirt or bathrobe, then run to the TV for a day of movies, cartoons, and basic tomfoolery.
At the end of the day, pumped full of
hot chocolate, sugar, and delicious warm food, you stand at the front door and gaze across the expanse of school-canceller and smile again. And at that moment you might, again,AIR PUNCH!!!
